Soaring deficits, unpredictable employee behaviors, and higher accountability demands necessitate the need for schools to employ safeguards against racism. Allegations of racism puts a scar on the perceptions of schools that can take decades to eliminate. Now is the time to take your avoid racism campaign to the next level by the following steps.

The first step is to utilize the Raccelerate Formula App. The Raccelerate Formula App is a product of the Raccelerate Phenomenon. The Raccelerate Phenomenon has roots in Newton’s Third Law of Motion. Newton’s Third Law of Motion states that when one body exerts a force on a second body, the second body simultaneously exerts a force equal in magnitude and opposite in direction on the first body. In elementary terms, Newton’s Third Law of Motion states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

The Raccelerate Phenomenon follows the same principle as Newton’s Third Law of Motion in that whenever there is a perceived infringement by a Black male against a White female there is a negative overreaction portrayed in the media. Specifically, the Raccelerate Phenomenon states that for every action that a Black male takes against a White female there is an elevated negative reaction towards Black men. The Raccelerate Phenomenon is the cause for many of the racial tensions between Blacks and Whites.

The Raccelerate Formula is a solution to the problems associated with the Raccelerate Phenomenon. It was invented to help teachers and administrators to measure the possibility of racism in their classroom and/or school. In order to make the Raccelerate Formula use friendly the Raccelerate Formula App was developed. With the Raccelerate Formula App, schools and teachers can now privately monitor the rate of potential racism in their schools and classrooms. This app uses the formula as a comprehensive new way to calculate and measure your school’s rate of racism using a smart phone.

The second step is to utilize the Raccelerate Continuum. The Raccelerate Continuum has eight pillars for safe discussions involving racism which include:

  1. Teacher-Student Relationships
  2. Teacher-Student Racial Differences
  3. Teacher Discrimination
  4. Student Beliefs and Perceptions
  5. School-Student Racial disparity
  6. Discrimination in the Classroom
  7. Teacher-Student Verbal Behavior
  8. Teacher-Student Nonverbal Behavior

Teachers who become involved the Raccelerate Continuum Training are able to develop a plan for identifying and overcoming classroom cultural challenges that contribute to the dysfunctional characteristics associated with racism in schools.

Each pillar provides an opportunity for racism safeguards.  For example, teachers formulate a team plan to respond to teacher-student racial differences that result from classroom conflicts between teachers and students due to the different cultural contexts that students and teachers bring to the classroom.  Teacher Discrimination is known to contribute to the need for racism safeguards. It has been proven that teachers are more likely to have negative academic and behavioral expectations regarding Black students compared to expectations of White students. Also, White teachers have more negative attitudes toward Black children and rate Black students more negatively when compared to White students. Student beliefs and perceptions contribute to the need for racism safeguards. When incorporating students into a marginalized society by slavery, conquest, and colonization, students believe school is detrimental to their identity.

There are many other factors that contribute to the need for racism safeguards and the Raccelerate Continuum provides teachers an opportunity to off-set any biases that may inhibit the academic progress of students of color.

School administrators also receive participative management training that results in supporting the efforts of teachers and implementing a plan for student involvement.  In addition, they:

  • Learn the necessary leadership qualities
  • Learn to conduct a school cultural analysis

The third step is for both the teachers and administrators to develop the Raccelerate Achievement Portfolio (RAP) which is an instrument that helps schools to document their racism safeguard efforts. The advantage to this portfolio is that if an allegation of racism surfaces, then the school can produce evidence that reveals that the incident must be isolated and not an indication of the school’s culture therefore finalizing racism safeguards for schools.
